How to Use the UASure Blood Uric Acid Meter

To use the UASure Blood Uric Acid Meter, follow the steps below:

  1. After inserting a test strip, the uric acid meter will perform a self-test. When all tests have passed, the screen will show the tester's key code and the meter will be ready for testing. Verify that the code on the screen matches the code on the test strip packaging. If it does not, refer to the section of the printed user's manual titled "Coding your Meter"
  2. Wash hands with soap and warm water, and dry thoroughly. Make a fist 10 times, to get blood flowing to your hand.
  3. Set the lancing device to level 5 and use a new lancet to obtain a drop of blood. Do not reuse lancets. Using a new lancet for each test helps to avoid infection and ensures accurate test results.
  4. Wipe away the first drop of blood using a clean paper towel to remove any contaminants.
  5. Gently squeeze finger to obtain a fresh new drop of blood.
  6. Apply the blood to the reaction zone on the test strip. Do not touch the test strip with your finger, only the drop of blood. Be sure that it fills the test strip quickly and completely. The meter will then beep, indicating that blood has been received by the test strip.
  7. The meter screen will display timing bars "-----". The bars will flash and gradually diminish for countdown.
  8. After the timing bars disappear (approximately 30 seconds), the screen will display the test result. The test result is also automatically stored into the meter's memory. The meter will automatically turn off after the test strip is removed or after 3 minutes of inactivity.

For the most accurate results, uric acid testing should be performed when fasting.
